Day 90: All I Need is Love

I like pretty much all Christmas music, but, let’s face it, much of it is very slow and/or sleepy. Today, I played dj for the hubs by choosing only upbeat holiday tunes to keep him pumped on the drive to Iowa. Selections featured Demi Lovato, Rascal Flatts and Glee. However, my favorite song this year is All I Need is Love by Cee Lo Green featuring the one and only Muppets! It literally brightened my day (which doesn’t even seem possible considering I have spent the day eating, talking and playing cards with family). I’ve listened to it three times today and each time couldn’t help but dance, even in the car. Especially in the car.

And by dance, I mean move crazily to the music. It is totally freeing as long as I do it alone or with the hubs or my sister (who also witnessed it today). It’s totally void of any self consciousness I might have about my body or abilities when dancing in front of people. So please listen to this song (or really any song that you love) and go nuts.

Day 89: Hedbanz

When a nine year old boy, who is your new nephew, opens up one of his Christmas gifts, specifically the one you bought him by researching on Google what to buy for nine year old boys, and says, “That’s my favorite game!” it is probably one of the best things ever. When you then play that game with said nine year old boy and all of the adults for two hours, it becomes a really fun Christmas memory.

Hedbanz is a new family favorite at my sister-in-law’s house. It’s like that card game where you stick a card to your head, except you don’t have to lick anything. Instead you wear a headband and the cards have pictures of different things on them. You have to ask yes or no questions to figure out what is on your card while being timed. The actual rules had something to do with coins (included in the game) but we ignored that and just kept going around in a circle until we almost finished the whole deck. It was goofy, surprisingly hard at times and really fun!

Day 88: Merry Married Christmas

After a lovely dinner at Brasserie 54, the hubs and I gave each other our Christmas gifts. For the rest of this holiday, I plan to find something small and fun to write about instead of the obvious, “we opened presents!” But since it is our first married Christmas, I’m going to bask for a moment in glow of opening presents, eating cookies and celebrating the first of many lovely holidays together.

Day 85: Work Holiday Celebration

It’s my second photobooth in four days! And while I still want to write a photbooth focused post, today is not the day. Because our work holiday party was out of control. Not only did we have a photobooth, open bar and what seemed like an endless supply of fried food and sweets at 3:00 in the afternoon, but also a video produced by the staff featuring many different departments. (Yours truly even made an appearance). Not to mention the bake-off and cake walk with all kinds of prizes from cake to theater tickets to flavored vodka.

It was a fun way for large staff to all get together to celebrate. Now, some of us are back at work, until the shows start this evening.

Day 79: Presents! Presents! Presents!

Before I left for work today, I spent my morning wrapping presents! I feel like I just keep saying how much I love the holidays, but it is so true! I’m just going to keep doing holiday fun stuff until December 26.

When I buy wrapping paper each year, I like to unite the look of the gifts. (Last year, I choose glitter paper and have subsequently been banned from purchasing this item at ANY time in the future. It was a serious mess). This year I went with paper that feels like parchment paper in browns and reds with deep colored bows. I also, for the first time, bought ribbon to match. I experimented with it a little this morning, though I did not get all the wrapping done. Oh well, more fun for me tomorrow!
