Day 338: New Friends?

The hubs and I met someone I used to work with and his gf at Fountainhead on Day 338. We had a great time as two couples trying each other out. It can be hard to go from coworkers to friends, but I think we managed that transition smoothly. I even promised them this would be the fun thing for today 🙂 We had a great time getting to know them better! I see a game night in our future.

P.S. Why is making friends as an adult so scary? Nothing about the dinner/drinks itself was scary, so why do I get all up in my head about it? Who doesn’t want more friends?!

P.P.S. Fountainhead is pretty cool and they have a stellar rooftop deck for the nice weather.

P.P.S.S. I don’t have anything to say here. I just wanted another ps.

Day 337: Draft Day

First fantasy football draft. Check.

Tonight, friends from many different parts of my life (family, high school, old job, grad school, etc) convened online to form the fantasy football league, Slama. Ten people took just under one hour to draft all 15 rounds of players. I’m pretty happy with my team, though I did get a little stressed out since I had last pick (though that did mean I went twice in row each time, which was pretty useful).

Here’s the team. Thoughts?

WR- Eric Decker
RB- Trent Richardson

Day 334: Independence Day

Guess what. I’ve never seen Independence Day. (I suppose I’ve failed my generation). So when it was on tv today, I decided to give Kenley a head start on her cinematic education by watching it with her. (The hubs and I were babysitting Kenley so her parents could have a day date).

She was pretty critical of the special effects but I was a little more forgiving. Poor Harvey Fierstein just didn’t stand a chance against the fireball that was billowing down the streets of New York flinging cars in every direction. I was more concerned about how small Andrew Keegan’s role was. All he did was try to kiss the girl from Mrs. Doubtfire and then no more screen time. The 12 year old me who had multiple posters of him up in her room was crushed. But he went on to make classics like 10 Things I Hate About You and educational television programs like 7th Heaven. So that’s pretty cool for him.

Anyway the movie was Will Smith + Jeff Goldblum brilliance and I’m sorry I waited so long. I mean, welcome to Earth.

Day 332: #marriage

Unplanned fun is the best, especially when it comes in the form of a surprise gift from the hubs. Actually I had a surprise for him too. We must have been thinking of each other at the exact same time–the post work errand run time–because the first thing he said when he came down to help me carry groceries up (yes, so sweet) was, “I got you a surprise.” And then we got to have that “Me too!” moment.

I got him a hoppy beer by Lagunitas he had never had called Hop Stoopid. The cashier at Trader Joes totally gave me props for my rad beer selection. And the hubs surprised me with this iPhone case that is PURPLE CHEVRON.

I mean, hello.

I love that we surprised each other (granted his was an actual gift and mine was technically groceries). I love that we were thinking of one another at the same time. I love that when I guessed it was a gift from the Apple Store (cuz I’m tricky like that), he wasn’t mad. And I love that we both loved what the other came home with. Love is all around, y’all.
