Day 150: Overgram

Its as simple as adding text to pictures, yet it is so fun! I found this app because I follow tashasgram on Instagram. (Definitely a must see. Lady dog tells it like it is and asks the real questions). My equation for humor, existing pictures from my phone + 90’s music references.

Day 149: Craft Craving

The hubs and I have been slow to put up wedding pictures. While we love so many of the photographs from both of our events, we don’t want to be THAT couple with wedding pictures all over their home. For some reason when I got home tonight, I was in a mood to craft and my mind went right to wedding stuff.

The hubs was raised Hindu and I Christian and when we got married we didn’t really want the ceremony to be traditionally either religion. So we charged our best man and maid of honor with the task of leading and writing the ceremony. Even though we pointed them in different directions (one focused on world views of marriage, the other on family and friends), they both came upon the phrase “loving kindness.” Since that moment, we’ve fallen in love with that phrase.

SO-back to tonight. I printed a picture from right before our Chicago reception and the text, “loving kindness,” in some fonts I liked. I traced the words on to printed picture and put it in a frame I had laying around. It might not be the thing that lives in that frame forever, but I like it for now. And it satisfied my craft craving.

Day 148: #dogswearingjewelry

Today’s fun happened by accident. The hubs and I are in the habit of what I call Mr. Rogers-ing, meaning we always change out of work clothes right when we get home. I don’t know why, but when I took off my necklace, I thought it would be funny to put in on Elphie. This turned in to Elphie trying on a few different necklaces and one of my favorite bracelets. Then I started taking pictures and posting them to Instagram with the hope of starting the hashtag, #dogswearingjewelry. Silly, weird and the kind of fun people with pets have.

Day 147: Workshopping

I’ve been working on a workshop of a new play for the past three days. This was the third in a series of three workshops with a focus on helping the writer figure out what changes to make to the scrip, and I’ve been involved in the last two. New play development has always been my passion and while I am not currently pursuing it professionally, it is always fun to do it casually.  Talking with the playwright and director, watching the script change and grow, asking as many questions as possible, and observing public reactions at readings are the best parts. And in this case, I got to do all of those things and more.

Day 146: Thin Mints

I’ve finally decided to move Guilty Pleasure Day to Sunday. And that’s because, today, there were young ladies selling delicious cookies outside of Trader Joe’s. After an outrageous night of 90’s dance party and an early morning of workshop rehearsal, all I wanted was a nap. But I could not resist their smiles and promises of chocolate and mint together in the most perfect of unions.

Now, Thin Mints are best served cold (I prefer refrigerator over freezer) but my impatience got the best of me. I immediately ate like 10 and then slept for 2 hours. Pretty good for the first Guilty Pleasure Sunday.
