Day 337: Draft Day

First fantasy football draft. Check.

Tonight, friends from many different parts of my life (family, high school, old job, grad school, etc) convened online to form the fantasy football league, Slama. Ten people took just under one hour to draft all 15 rounds of players. I’m pretty happy with my team, though I did get a little stressed out since I had last pick (though that did mean I went twice in row each time, which was pretty useful).

Here’s the team. Thoughts?

Day 336: Arbonne

At the last minute, my co-worker Elizabeth had some extra space at an Arbonne party she was hosting, so she invited me. I did not really know much about Arbonne (I mean except that it is “good” face products) but I am so glad I do now.

I absolutely love everything I learned about the products–from the all natural ingredients to the animal testing policy (no testing on animals). Every product we tried smelled lovely and, even better, felt amazing on my skin. Recently, I have been on a crusade to rid my bathroom of antibacterial soaps because they kill all of the good bacteria (and I can’t afford to lose any of those). On NPR, I heard a story about how those same antibacterial ingredients are found in many face and body lotions, shampoos, deodorant and toothpastes (yes toothpaste!). I checked all of my labels at home and found them in many of the my other products. Arbonne sells all of these products (and more) yet all comply to same high standards they set for their make up and face lotions. They have even branched out into the world of supplements and juices–we did not even have time to go there at this party.

So….I’m super hooked. The only downside is it is a little pricey, so I’m starting with a facial care system and will move on from there…check them out.

Also, it was really fun hanging out with some of my co-workers outside of work. I am super glad I went!

Day 335: Face Palm

I was thinking of writing about the VMAs (NSYNC reunion heeeeeey) but they were just so off the wall (Miley Cyrus) that I can’t. Instead I thought I would take a second to acknowledge that I have been doing a lot of back posting to account for the days I missed this summer. I think I’ve said this before but it is still a goal of mine to finish all the days before the year is up. Today I was able to post three additional entires, a small dent in the list of old drafts but a dent nonetheless. With 31 days to go (one month-that’s crazy) I’ll need to devote some serious time to blogging, but I’ve got a long weekend of beach time ahead of me so, for you email subscribers out there, look out.

Also, with so many old posts to write, I’m feeling a lot this.

Day 334: Independence Day

Guess what. I’ve never seen Independence Day. (I suppose I’ve failed my generation). So when it was on tv today, I decided to give Kenley a head start on her cinematic education by watching it with her. (The hubs and I were babysitting Kenley so her parents could have a day date).

She was pretty critical of the special effects but I was a little more forgiving. Poor Harvey Fierstein just didn’t stand a chance against the fireball that was billowing down the streets of New York flinging cars in every direction. I was more concerned about how small Andrew Keegan’s role was. All he did was try to kiss the girl from Mrs. Doubtfire and then no more screen time. The 12 year old me who had multiple posters of him up in her room was crushed. But he went on to make classics like 10 Things I Hate About You and educational television programs like 7th Heaven. So that’s pretty cool for him.

Anyway the movie was Will Smith + Jeff Goldblum brilliance and I’m sorry I waited so long. I mean, welcome to Earth.
