Day 275: Back to Guilty Pleasures

I had been off of methotrexate for a while but today I had to go back on. It was trial-I don’t like to take it. Plus if the hubs and I ever want to start a family (the old fashioned way), I will not be able to take it for several months before any “trying” starts. Needless to say, the trial didn’t last very long nor go very well. After about 5 months, I could not continue without it. The combination of methotrexate and Enbrel just works really well for me and anytime I mess with that, my joints get enraged so acceptance and forward movement. It could always change but for now I’m back to one sicky/sleepy day per week that I hopefully fill with a guilty pleasure. Today it was those darn easy bake cookies. They get me every time!

Day 274: FarrOut

FarrOut is an app I discovered through friends on Instagram. It allows you to use the artwork of Kristin Farr, a San Francisco painter/sculptor who creates these colorful, graphic patterns and shapes. With the app, you can layer a selection of her designs/paintings on your own photos and them post them to Instagram. They are light-hearted and fun images that add pizazz to any picture. I took a photo from our recent camping trip to Northern Michigan and added in the storm that disrupted our sleep on the second night. One friend braved the storm in his one-man tent–he’s the one with the sign in the back…

Day 273: Polyvore

Today I had to wear old jeans and t-shirt to work because we were striking the set. Using Polyvore, an amazing and addictive website where you design outfits, I came up with the outfit I wish I had worn to work today. Not that I own any of these items. Polyvore lets a girl dream…
Work 1
The bracelets (J. Crew and Banana Republic) stacked. Pencil skirt (J. Crew) worn under the peplum shirt (Harvey Nichols). The bag is either vintage or vintage inspired and it is not super clear where you can get it. Shoes, also J. Crew. Clearly, I just want to shop at J. Crew more and strike sets less.

Day 272: Super Moon!

The hubs and I went up to the roof deck for the FIRST TIME since it’s been warm (can that be right?) to see the Super Moon last night. It did look pretty big I guess….I mean not that much bigger than a normal full moon. But it was pretty. And romantic.

Day 271: Marty’s

Marty’s Martini Bar in Andersonville hosted an amazing fundraiser on Day 271 for the Youth Ensemble, an intense, pre-college prep program at the theater. From 2-5pm (times the bar is normally closed) all profits from drinks went right to the theater. The bartenders both donated their tips on top of it, which was amazing, and a small raffle with prizes and cash for purchasers increased total donations.

The Youth Ensemble is actually the pride and joy of the theater. Thirteen Chicago Public School juniors and seniors with intense interest and incredible talent take master classes, participate in scene studies, attend theater, advocate for our company and perform in a show on our stage every summer. For the first graduating class of seniors, we’ve had 100% college acceptance and enrollment. These students are really a part of the family and we do what we can to support them.

The event was really fun. I don’t usually drink martinis but I had two French 75s and was done-zo (oops! oh well, it’s for the kids). Some friends came out to support me and the theater–amazing. The weather cooperated so we could sit on the patio–also amazing. All in all a great Saturday!
